Young Gifted and Blocked

It's well documented that the underachievers in academia are black boys. It's also well-known that underachievers have absent fathers and mothers who often support the family with 3 jobs. Is it a lack of male role model or is it something else? Facilitated by own Rene Carayol, our select audience and panel will be discussing the real issues and what needs to be done to change.

WHO IS ON THE PANEL

Tony Sewell CBE (LLD) Founder and Director of Generating Genius, an organisation that supports talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to realise their potential in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).

Dwain Neil co-founder of Reach Society, an organisation whose core purpose is to encourage, motivate and inspire black boys and black young men to own the development of their potential.

Colleen Amos, co-founder and  CEO of the Amos Bursary, set up to address the under representation in established higher education institutions and the professions, of young British men of African and Caribbean Descent, providing support to ensure each student moves from potential to performance.

HOW THE EVENT RUNS

The event will take place in a studio setting in a venue in London. Canapes and drinks (wine and/or soft drinks) are served on arrival.
